How it started
SunSun Roasters is the off spring of SunSun Coffee, a specialty coffee shop that was once the place to go in the lively neighborhood of Gounderegen plein in The Hague. After three years of serving specialty coffee, we launched a roasting line called SunSun Roasters. While SunSun Coffee (the cafe) has ceased to exist, SunSun Roasters will continue online (for now).
SunSun Coffee has always been about a community that came together over good quality and ethical products, especially coffee beans. That community gave a lot of people, us included, a sense of belonging and the feeling of being at home. So Faten decided to take over SunSun Roasters to honor what SunSun Coffee represented and continue to offer pure and clear conscious specialty coffee to coffee lovers whether they’re cafe owners or home brewers.

FATEN
OWNER & everything else
A little over three years ago, Faten walked into a little specialty coffee shop in The Hague called SunSun Coffee as a volunteer—and ended up finding a whole new world. While helping out, she learned everything from how coffee is grown to what makes a cup truly shine, and why an ethical, people-first supply chain matters just as much as flavor. She also got a feel for what it means to run a people oriented business that’s built on values instead of spreadsheets.
When SunSun eventually closed its doors, Faten wasn’t ready to say goodbye. So she took over the roasting line, gave it a new life and kept the spirit going. Her go-to coffees are floral, complex filters, or when she’s in the mood for something richer, a full-bodied cortado.
Born and raised in Bahrain, she now calls The Hague home. She shares it with her cat, Mirèy, and when she’s not roasting, selling, or sipping coffee, you’ll find her behind a camera, making films.

ROASTERS / QUALITY CONTROL
Beau has been deep in the world of coffee since 2015—first behind the brew bar and later behind the roaster from 2020 onward. After working with several coffee roasters and cafés, he realized he couldn’t not start roasting himself. He’s experimented with all kinds of machines, from drum roasters to hot-air setups, and after seeing just about every roasting style out there, he’s landed on his own: bright, clean, complex light roasts for filter lovers, and sweet, rounded medium roasts for espresso fans.
He also casually eats coffee beans. Yes—like snacks. It all started when his parents brought home an espresso machine when he was 15, and he’s basically been caffeinated ever since. When he’s not roasting or munching on beans, you’ll probably find him cooking or baking. If you ask him, he'll tell you that his signature dish is a nice creamy risotto. And if he’s not sipping a filter coffee, he’s treating himself to a flat white.
